ETHICS STATEMENT
This is a statement of values and practices to be transparent about my business, my unearned privilege of being a white, cis, able-bodied, educated, middle-class woman of average size, and show my commitment to inclusion, diversity, anti-oppression, anti-racism and human rights. Making this statement public is also to keep me accountable. I am committed to regularly re-examining my bias and the way that I develop and deliver my services. Thus, this statement may change as I listen and learn and become a better ally.
I am committed to being actively anti-racist and continually recognizing and dismantling how white supremacy culture affects me, my family, and my business.
I commit to listen to and learn from the people who have been excluded from best care practices in the past, including pregnant people and parents from the Black, Indigenous, racialized, and disabled communities. I believe in the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy.
I embrace the importance of individual and family diversity and accessibility and hold inclusion as a core value to my work. I support all people regardless of age, abilities, body size, culture, ethnic origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, nationality, race, religion or lack thereof, or socioeconomic status. I support people and families from diverse histories, family makeup, and dynamics, including but not limited to parents who are LGBTQ+, adoption, co-parenting, surrogacy, donor insemination, fostering, and fertilization treatment and any other ways that people identify as parents and family.
My support is always evidence-based, non-judgemental, nurturing, and respectful of all parenting structures, your family, your body and your choices.
I acknowledge the land I live and work on is the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg (ah-nish-Nah-bek), the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee (ho-den-oh-show nee) and the Wendat (wen-dat) peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. I also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
I acknowledge and struggle with the complexity of living on this land as an uninvited resident.
Please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns. Feedback provides me with the opportunity to learn and be better.
